"I Can't Slide Here"

The 70th annual Nisei Week in Little Tokyo was another hit this year. With more events occurring simultaneously, this triumphs over this year's Cherry Blossom Fest. Obon is another cool event to look out for. If they incorporate the 3 different zones highlighted in Cherry, Nisei, and Obon it would be the end of DTLA as we know it. We encountered many things on our adventure: Metro, Metro Bus, LAPD, Rubix cube competition, Bonsai Show, Calligraphy Demos, Takoyaki,  Tokidoki related women, Nuru Massages,  Japanese Girls, Japanese girls who are 14 that look like they're 21. Japanese girls who are 30 that look like they're 14, Gyoza Competition, Reversal of Fortune, Nisei Queens, Loose socks, The store, Famima, The Band, Film Festival, Nerds, Japanese Girls, Geeks, "All the Projects are here, though", "I can't slide here", Marukai, Orochon Revenge, Kevin Fernandez, Rush Hour 3 T-shirts, Guy with condom, Dragging to Hell, Japanese Girls, etc.

Kevin Fernandez Related Event

As a follow-up to "Gigi Related Event" the Fernandez siblings put together another gathering in order to eliminate the remaining rations which have rolled over for this event. Fewer people attended, but also new faces appeared. The food was made by a reincarnation of Andre and Kevin presented to everybody that he is the most skillful man on earth. True story.

He rapin' everybody out there

CiCiz Petesa

Xtina + Mars started school today. Sad. On friday we decided to go to Cici's because of all the hype and $5 buffet. $5 buffet means you are getting your money's worth for $5. Believe the Skype, not the hype. The dessert is pretty bomb though. I tried everything except the salad. Decent if you are on a budget like me, who can't really complain.

My favorite pizza was the bbq pizza. It uses bbq sauce instead of marinara on the underside

Hair No

Chopped off my hair because it was troublesome. With the 100 + degree weather and a non-AC vehicle, was a very difficult past couple of months. I would also sweat like crazy during photoshoots. Stopped by Jesse's after a shoot to fade out.

Tixshured Layered

I've been practicing with some textured layer shots for the last couple weeks. In my spare time I work on nonsense like this:

Preemptive Strike

Photobucket

I've had a camera almost my whole life. I shot with an Olympus point and shoot until 2003 when I bought a Sony Cybershot camera. I always saved up money just to buy film to play around with my dad's old SLR. I finally jumped to the DSLR wagon when I saved enough money from work. At the same time rangefinders began to interest me. Still, I do not consider myself a photographer. I am not worthy yet of a title like "photographer" I am more like a photo enthusiast. I am evaluating most of my shots at the moment and I see a huge difference in how much I've grown. This entry is dedicated to the anniversary of my first DSLR. The picture above is one of my favorite shots. To others it seems like a really crappy picture, but it was a bokeh experiment for me. So here's a list of things I want to accomplish and improve (master) within 5-7 years:

Gigi Related Event

Last night Ms. Gigi put together some kind of get together. It was swell. Cool beer pong table, meeting new faces, Timothy's piano, TAMZ, Kevin Fernandez experience, Brownies, Meatballs, ANDRE, Prometheus, Dunkxchange, BlackandMild, Rum and ale, Jedis, Floor hustle, etc etc. Interesting evening. Pictures are not in order because I swapped out cards numerous times to show examples of my studio work.

Wait Until They Get a Load of Me

These are pretty old pics. I just found them in one of my external hard drives. A couple of months ago I did a HID shoot for Francis & company. As a token of gratitude he installed HIDs into my Sophia. Swell. Now me driving in dark forests isn't as bad anymore.

Lifted By Wind They Sway to the Rhythm of the City

Bored at studio. Retouched some older pics to kill time. Set in Chicago, IL during the spring and winter. One of the REAL cities in the U.S.

Top of the World

You don't know it, but

Sometimes, I go to a hill that overlooks

the landscape's mask of city lights

For a sip of momentary grace.

On this brink of everything I know, I can gain

An eyeful of the lost Atlantis in the human soul,

And a breath that fills my lungs with the air between two stars.

If right now, you

Were to capture this elation

In the framework of your mind,

Or find transcendance through these words,

Then at most you would know

Nothing

Of the beauty your existence throws to me.

For mine is a love no experience,

No thought, no measure, no words

Could ever degrade into reality by virtue of degree.

DTD

Took my sister to Disneyland. She goes like 2x a week. She got the final pass for the ultimate experience. I do not have a pass, plus I was my sisters ride home. So I decided to stay at downtown for 7 hours. I had to repark my car every 3 hours to avoid whatever. I didn't want to waste money for gas. I ended up watching Despicable Me and Sorcerer's Apprentice alone. Movies are less entertaining when watched alone. It was the afternoon sun, so it was boring the whole time. I don't mind the Disney nightlife though
