D7k

Damn. Nikon's D7000 is coming out. It looks exciting. Now I am at the ultimate debate:

Nikon D3s -vs.- Nikon D300s -vs.- Nikon D7000

Not to mention I also want some lenses soon... aka 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, 35 f/1.4, 200-400 f/4. I need to get rich or win something.

Nikon D3s = Most expensive out of my list, but most worth it. High ISO capabilities + Master Lito Sy uses it. I only have 2 lenses that would be compatible with FX though, the 80-200 and 50. It's all good though. They're my favorite lenses anyway.

Nikon D300s = I can buy this right now if I want, but I am waiting for something. Maybe the next pro-DX release. A lot of my lenses would be compatible and I need something rugged. It's a debate either between this camera or a new lens.

Nikon D7000 = A nice upgrade between D90 and D300s. Offers AF-video and 1080p. I don't really car much about videos on SLRs, but and out aperature adjustment is pretty cool. Plus, the sensitivity of ISO 100 is better than the D90's. I can get it...but I'll wait for the D300s upgrade which is due soon. Here is Mr. Jarvis's video using the D7k:

The Lito Sy Experience

Lito Sy, International Wedding Photographer and photographer  of the year for 2005-2006 and 2007 and 2008 runner-up. Did I also mention he is my favorite photographer? He is coming to LA for a 2day workshop! Unfortunately I am stuck on a budget at the moment and am low on funds. It is $395 for 2 days of intense training. Plus, there is a lunch buffet. Yea you heard me, lunch buffet. I love his work and his post production skills. So for my b-day gift this is all I want. A chance to work with a master. It is April 24-25. I can hold off on other stuff I want, but this is an oppurtunity I cannot miss. So please. Donate. Help me achieve one of my life long dreams. I always looked up to Mr. Sy ever since I started rocking my Dad's film camera. View his glorious work here: www.LitoSy.com

My Grown Up Christmas List

Normally I don't really get anything for Christmas, this is more like a wishlist for me for stuff I don't really need, but want to obtain at least before March. If you get me something here thats cool. For now I'll just admire the JPEGs until I have them in my hand. No particular order:

1. Nikon 300mm f/4
-For shooting graduation ceremonies in 2010 and other goodies. I really want a prime super telephoto. A constant aperture is a plus for me, the f/2.8 is too much money at the moment. This lens also will break necks when I walk around.

2. Nikon 50mm f/1.2
-Just to have a manual low light and always on my FM lens. Plus, I want a lens with f/1.2. I'll get a f/1.4 later on just so I can have all of em.

3. Nikon SB-600 (x2)
-I need two to add to my light set up. Ever since my first SB-800 broke, I realized there wasn't much of a difference between the 600 and 800 that fit my personal preferences.

4. Alien Bees Package: AlienBees B400(x2), B800, 5-in-1 reflector, OB47 Large Octobox, FSB3060 Large Softbox (x2)
-Got rid of my speedtrons earlier this year. I was originally set on this pack, but I ended up getting more important things. This would be a great asset to my vinyl backdrop thats been just laying around. The B400s are gonna be attached to my umbrellas while the B800 on Octobox will be used as fill. Yeee

5. SLR Bellow
-For my macro-set up

50mm Comparisons.

I have 2 50mm lenses.
The 50mm f/2 Non-Ai from my Nikon FM and the 50mm f/1.8 D (aka Nifty Fifty). I'm planning to get a 50 f/1.4 soon, but I'm still debating if I should get the 50 f/1.2 which is manual focus.

This is my 50 f/2 which I used for film. Still works flawlessly, but I have been spoiled by AF

The Challenge:
50mm f/1.2 = $500

vs.

50mm f/1.4 D = $300

I'm seriously leaning towards the 50f/1.2. According to Rockwell it is the sharpest 50mm lens. but for modern cameras the 50f/1.4 is cheaper and more useful. I could prolly find one for about 220 on KEH. I'll take some time to think on this...

Wishlists and Life

So I took a picture of all my lenses, some of them don't event help me anymore but still useful nonetheless. I currently have 9 Lenses, plus another 7 if you include the lenses from my dads Nikon SLR
Photobucket

I really want one lens right now. The 60mm f/2.8 AF-D Micro, it's Nikon's macro lens. I'm interested in getting real close to shoot critters or other pointless things

Also a new speedlite would be nice. I'm thinking an SB-600 because the SB-800 is too much and all I need is a flash.

Another Lens on my wishlist is the Nikon 85mm f/1.8. There is the f/1.4D but that's a little pricey for me at the moment. And for a 3/4 stop its not really worth it too me, eventually yes.

If I ever to become some crazy rich power hungry bastard I want these lenses:
Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 - All purpose
Nikon 85mm f/1.4D - Just because
Nikon 180mm f/2.8 - As a homage to my Dad's favorite lens
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 - For the Actions
Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 - Widest of Angles

...But for now my prime collection has made me happy
Photobucket

So I just need to save around 5-7 bill and I'll be set until I start my dream career and making bank.
My faves:
Photobucket
80-200mm f/2.8 - Push-pull version =[ but for my action shots
12-24mm f/4 - Wideness/party and event lens
35mm f/1.8 - Always on my camera
10.5mm f/2.8 Fisheye - fast focusing and distortion. Awesome
