Macrorific but Far From Terrific

I'm attempting to use the Macro function on my 70-300mm. Not so good. Especially if I can't go down to a lower stop. The focusing on it is only 1:2 ratio, not as good as a 1:1 which make it all intense. This is one of the primary reasons I miss the 105mm f/2.8. I'm hoping to get the VR version just because and so I can AF on my lighter and more portable d60. I don't really do Macro shots so I decided to give it a shot. Prepare to rake out your eyes due to the horrible pictures. Im currently going through old film photos and scanning them in order to prepare for my sister's debut. Anyways...here's you Halloween treat:

Again...trying something new.

Until I get my official Nickbarcelona.com url after int3rlud3 expires, I want to find a new way viewers can see my images...so I went back to the classic look. This time with white borders instead of black. I'll alternate between the two I guess. I'll include the event now so it will be more convenient for me in organizing. I changed my tag so many times, but I decided this is the best because it looks good to me for now.

This is the Live! on-campus concert series which I will be covering weekly. I perform in it too so check it out.

What James Did on his Birthday

On Friday was James Rowe's party. Gazebo event hosted by the John Lin Residence. James is going back to Texas, so I'm gonna miss that cool guy. The night consisted of Carl's Jr Drivethru runnings, 3 beer pong tables, Weird Limes, John Lin as a Spider, Mario's Nose on the TV, Smoking addictions, asthmatic problems, Kawawa Problems, Texas and Tennessee Lifestyles, Ladder Matches, V thighs, "Hey Harry!", MadHeat on Repeat, and banging waitresses at Denny's. Prior to the party, I dropped off my mom at Pechanga. So afterwards I will be picking her up again. Then I went to Friendship Games @ CSUF for full event coverage at 6am-11pm. Photos by Nick and John.

Friendship Games event coverage was intense. I'll take a break for awhile. PreEvent + Event + AfterParty + Running on ZERO hours of sleep. Yesterday I brought moms to Pechanga, went to James's Going away, ended at 3am after Dennys, went back to Pechanga to Pick up mom, drop her off at home and get photogear, finally drive to friendship games and arrive at 6 AM for lining up.

Marple's Day Off

It was my cousin Mary Pauline's 14th birthday on saturday. Pictures are kinda late, been busy with work and school. I added my borders to the pictures again because I miss them. The pictures are kinda weird because I used a 70s Nikon lens that day. Fully manual like how I practiced back in my film days. You can notice the lack of saturation in the photos that give them that vintage look. Anyways here are the photos.

Harbringer

Haven't updated in awhile. Been super busy. Will start going out to shoot more outdoorsy and themed subjects this weekend. I'm 30% within my purchase goal for this year. I'm pretty happy. After that goal is another goal: The Alien Bees strobe set...ouch my account is gonna take a beating. But I've been busy with classes, work, and other things. I've been sick too. Made a new cellphone blog if interested. That and my tumblr blog are my daily life philosophies and rambling. I'll post pictures tomorrow if I feel like it.

Night

I need to go out and shoot more. My technique is dwindling. I made 5 new photobucket accounts just because and I don't feel like paying $30 a year to hold all my photos. Anyways. I need to shoot more. My pictures are terrible.

Vegas 2/3 : A Fistful of Simoleans

So I changed some stuff up. Made images bigger, decreased watermark, and aligned pictures. This is day 2 of my Vegas experience. I stayed the night at MGM while everyone was at Venetian. I couldn't sleep so I just wandered the strip at 4am to take pictures. Later on in the evening will be the Urdanetta High School Reunion. Class of 1950-1980. I won't be able to enjoy the night so I ventured off in the morning hours. I also made bank that day. $750 in tips. Yee. Got back at 2am after the event, I didn't wanna go to the after party and watch middleaged citizens get freaky on the dance floor. I woke up again at 5am on sunday, but thats a blog for another day.

Vegas 1/3 : The Elation of Redemption

Still editing most of my pics from Vegas event this past weekend. I shot my biggest private event and made $750 in tips. I'm happy...gonna waste it all on Root Beers and Jazz Records. I'm currently studying in the library, and will remain here until 9pm. In the meantime I will continue to edit the 2k pictures I took from the event. I'm tired of studying...I shall continue watching STORY OF RICKY! on my netbook on repeat. LA Filipino Film Festival is this weekend. Roll through. Lotsa Cool Stuff. Here's what happened on DAY 1:

I'm Haunted By This Lomograph

Everyone knows I loathe the idea of manipulating and enhancing photos by photoshop. I think it's cheating, but at the same time it is necessary. For example, you shoot something really cool like an exploding dolphin, but some guys hand is in the frame. You gotta crop that piece out. I learned some interesting photoshop techniques, but I do wish to take a formal class one day. Some of the stuff the do is amazing. Check out some of the youtube vids of people using photoshop to make fat people skinny, ugly people into beauties, dogs into cats, cats into humans, earth into a fat person, etc etc. Photoshop is necessary for this generation. Although I like do manual settings for my contrast and saturation on my camera, there is so much more to unlock when combining a photographer's eye and a personalized post production studio. Enough of my rambling...here are some old photos done in LOMO style.(high saturation + vignetting) It's pretty interesting.
