Graduation party for a journalism major: Action. Thrills. Laughs. Great food with swell company. Terence James Calacsan will eat Lechon everyday for the rest of his life. That's how champions are born. I brought along my portable studio. The paper was a bit dirty on the ground, so it reflected little spots around the background. Long day...great hangovers.

I've been pretty discreet about it, but I released my first book. Don't expect to see it at Barnes and Noble and Borders. There is a possibility of being seen at independent shows and various photo conventions, with my approval. It is about 100 pages of pictures from my portfolio and a few from my blog. I owe it to the workshop I attended that allowed me super discounted access to 25 books each with a 100pgs. Any additional book will cost a little extra. This is a little preview of book 1:

Congratulations to my cousin John Carlo Calacsan, who has braved the mighty storm of nursing school. The family is proud. Another nurse will make the family very proud.

Student displays in the Riverside California Museum of Photography will be up for 2 days! Check out some of my work in the Digital Gallery. I scouted the area and talked to some cool cats about future exhibits. Come now and see what all the fuss is about. The pics featured are not in my blog.

Had a last minute photoshoot with my sister's court. I was kinda unprepared with my lighting and lent out 2 of my softboxes and strobes to my friends. I relied on 1 large softbox and a beauty dish/speedlite combo. It came out pretty decent. I wish I could've prepared more in terms of posing and lighting arrangements, I only prepared for an hour of shooting since practice should begin right after. Mars showed up late and dance instructor was lagging. I took about 300 pics...here's 70 of them:

There's a little gem in Corona called the Mad Greek. It looks like a run down spot, but it's a great hole in the wall place thats been around since the 70s. Very decent prices too. Check it out:

I've been busy doing nothing lately. Booked for 14 weddings this summer, the first on June 5th. Mostly been doing senior portraits for both high school and college graduates (27 so far, since April). My package is pretty reasonable if you are interested: $40. 150-300 pictures on disc. 1- 8x10. 2- 5x7. 4- wallets. 2 outfits too. This is my summer special because I have nothing better to do.
I will now go back in time to 2007-2008 and critique my work and remember things I forgot.
The Gazebo photoshoot. Back then I thought that the black borders make my pictures look more professional.
This was also a weak continuous lighting source and I had a weak lens.
Vern's 20th
I had a much more consistent lighting source back then.
Composition. Composition. Composition
The color gamut on my D60, was great
I needed to shoot at a different pov

Before High Intesity Discharge night, there was something deeper involved. This is the story of the events that took place before that fateful evening. This kid will narrate it:
Mikey's Miata arrived looking like a toy
Then we proceeded to take pictures by his driveway
Unfortunately, a cat appeared and everything changed
it went from this...
